The Millennium Collection is Florida Patio’s latest and greatest patio furniture line! We are going to take you through the entire development process, starting with this prototype chair. Last week we showed the fabric process for M-52, this week we see the M-52 Lounge Chair’s powder coating process. Above is a close up of the pewter crater finish.
Above is the M-52 Lounge Chair after it has been sandblasted with a special media made from copper slag waste. When copper is refined, there is a byproduct that used to be thrown into landfills, but modern science has found a way to grind up the waste and use it as a premium sandblasting media! This media is superior to sand as it does not have the silicosis effect of silica sand which makes it much safer for our sandblasters! This is a very green way to make use a byproduct that would have otherwise polluted the planet. This blasting process creates microscopic etchings and pits in the aluminum frame for our powder to fill in. This ensures the powder coating will hold on the M-52 for years to come!
In the photo above, the powder coater applies the electrostatic TGIC powder. TGIC powder is a polyester based powder which is the best in the industry for holding up ti the elements. TGIF powder is also color fast, meaning it will not fade! There are many grades of powder coating powder available, but TGIC is the most expensive for exterior use, and it’s also the best!
The powder coating is applied to the M-52 Lounge Chair.
The M-52 is placed in the oven and baked at 375 (°F) to cure the powder.
The M-52 Lounge Chair emerges from the oven with a very durable, pewter crater, textured finish!
Next we will take you through the assemble of the first ever, M-52 Lounge Chair from Florida Patio’s brand new Millennium Collection! Florida Patio makes the World’s Finest Patio Furniture!
